HLA-B27 and COVID-19 Does anyone know of someone who is HLA-B27 positive and also COVID-19 positive? I have read that HLA-B27 might offer protection for certain kinds of flu.

Hello Spinman,

Thank you for your post. We are non-profit patient advocacy organization – not a medical organization – so we do not have doctors or researchers on staff, but we hope that we can share some useful information and additional resources with you.

We’re not sure that this information exists yet. It is all so very new. Researchers around the globe are working diligently to compile and analyze the limited data that is currently available about COVID-19. Below, we link you to the organizations where you can find more information and research:

• The American Society of Hematology (ASH) COVID-19 Resource Center: https://www.hematology.org/covid-19
• The Anticoagulation (AC) Forum Resource Center: https://bit.ly/3dfkgI1
• International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) COVID-19 Resource: https://bit.ly/3dcFkyF

Again, the research is currently very limited, and you may not find what you are looking for. We encourage you to continue to monitor the information that is being shared by these medical organizations. Many of them have newsletters or notifications that you can subscribe to so that you will be informed as soon as information is shared. It might also be helpful to connect with your doctor about your individual situation and concerns.
