If you have expenses related to the coronavirus outbreak or your school’s response to the outbreak, you might be eligible for an emergency grant. While the CARES Act provided schools with additional money for this purpose, the bulk of the rewards will be based on financial need as established by your FAFSA application.
For example, if your school closed the dorms, you might need money to travel back home. If you’re not able to live with your parents, you might have expenses for temporary lodging.
If you’ve already incurred virus-related expenses, the emergency grant can help reimburse you for those expenses. You may need to present receipts or other documentation of those receipts to your financial aid office.
